Oral History
Oral history consists of stories handed down through generations. Below are stories passed along by former or current members of Beaver Creek Baptist Church. Please note that this is not a complete list and we hope that you will share any stories that you may have with us.
Beaver Creek Baptist Church was formerly known as Muddy Springs church. The members of the church would meet at the headwaters of Beaver Creek for service. The creek allowed the horses to drink water after traveling. Because church typically lasted all day, members would bring food with them.
The point of using dummy text for your paragraph is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters. making it look like readable English.
Some have said Sherman burned the church as he passed through Orangeburg County in South Carolina. We know that Sherman did burn a lot of places, but we are not able to verify the accuracy of this oral story.
Shelby (Davis) Rutland remembers her family started attending Beaver Creek when she was a child. She remembers the church would always give out bags of fruit and a candy stick or cane at Christmas time.
“A few times a year, the church invites traveling musicians to come play special music for the church. Bluegrass bands and family bands were popular in the early 1980s. Every year, the church holds Vacation Bible School in the summer and a Christmas program in December.” - Crystal Davis
